BARA FOR 5TH BENGALURU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The drought in Karnataka in several parts has affected the 5th Bengaluru International Film Festival. Several awards in the government sponsored international film festival of last year have been cancelled.

It is only one award of Rs.2 lakhs for the 5th Bengaluru International Film Festival that is starting on 20th of December, 2012 for eight days. From 50 countries 140 films are taking part in the festival.

Last year it was awards worth over Rs.20 lakhs given in various categories. It is just Rs.2 lakh award. In the December 15 to December 22 2011 the 4th BIFFES screened 175 films with 4000 delegates at nine screens.

The fifth edition will be on lesser scale on account of drought situation. It will be in five screens 10 category of films are available for people of Bangalore.

The addition this year is the Centenary year of Indian cinema. There will be seminars, master classes for students and a forum for studying the growth of Indian cinema to mark celebration of its centenary.

At the media address on Saturday, Thara Anooradha, KCA President, HN Narahari Rao Artistic director, Kannada and Culture secretary, Basavaraj, Executive director NR Vishukumar have taken part.

Come December 20 to 27, it will be another feast of films in Bangalore.
